Throughout the Workshop bases our guests enjoyed experts lectures on a variety of topics and skills. Tom Laterveer led an engaging discussion on how to lead a passionate, driven, and dedicated working environment, and Ernst Neumeister gave insights about why and how crowdfunding campaigns become successful. Mark Turrell showed guests how to turn networks into super powers to get things done. Outside in the Makers Yard Julia Kolm and Cecilia Hilmer from innovation agency Innoki gave a two-hour ‘fast forward’ design thinking workshop and the good people from MYO taught groups the fun in paper folding by creating their own lampshades. In the Innovation Garden there were all kinds of funky new tech gadgets, and Mr. Beammade incredible wood etchings through a mini laser in true Sci-Fi fashion.

On the 4th floor startups and investors enjoyed a well-spent day of business insights and networking at the BETAPITCH | global and Investors Day. The day was packed with talks that ranged in topics such as whether or not to seek investment, how to give back to the community, and how to ‘lose your soul to an accelerator or join a coworking’. Talks and panel discussions were led by investors from Axel Springer Plug ‘n Play, Deutsche Bahn, Airbus Bizlab, Kloeckner, Ergo and ENBW amongst others. Other friends on stage included SoundCloud and Kickstarter. Outside the building startups and investors were speeddating in fancy Audi cars, thanks to Welcome Project.

In the evening at BETAPITCH | global, seven international startup finalists pitched. The big winner of the night was Insulin Angel, who won a trip to Silicon Valley sponsored by Axel Springer Plug ‘n Play and a program at Stanford organized by BiTHOUSE! Hub:raum gave its prize of 5000 euros to startup Thingthing, and Dronamics snatched away a wildcard acceptance to Airbus Bizlab accelerator and a chance to pitch for the Kloeckner fund. Vienna Skill Smiths won six months of free coworking space at betahaus | Berlin, and BeeCanvas received the opportunity to pitch at Pirate Summit 2015. Congratulations to all the teams!

The evening got off to a smooth start with a BBQ and performances from musicians in betahaus’ community - including our own CEO Christoph Fahle on the saxophone. Later, in the frenzy of our after-party and alongside our ‘work hard, play hard’ partners of Business Punk, the crowd were given some energetic performances by international DJs and acts like Antopia,  Peter Kirn, and Ain the Machine. They kept the dance floor grooving well into the night and we couldn’t get enough.
