The Challenge Cup is a global competition in 16 cities across the world to identify and celebrate the most promising startups tackling the biggest challenges. The competition will center on startups innovating in four primary categories: education, health, energy, and smart cities.
The prize for the regional competition in each category is an paid trip to Washington, DC for the global final tournament in May 2014.
The Challenge Cup final tournament will bring together 64 startups from around the world in a single elimination tournament in May 2014. During this time, there will be strong media attention on the participating startups, mentorship and networking sessions, and the opportunity to win up to $150,000. The top category winners will each receive a $100,000 prize. The runners-up will each receive a $50,000 prize. The Challenge Cup overall winner will receive a $150,000 prize.
